Concetta Niel Cardone, of Lake Charles, died at 12:20 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 peacefully at home with her four children by her side.

Concetta was born December 23, 1920 in Lake Charles where she was educated, married, and raised her family. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and attended Vincent?s Business College. Concetta was a life-long parishioner of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and was a member of the Altar Society of Our Lady Queen of Heaven. While briefly living in Houston, she belonged to the Angels of St. John Vianny, lending emotional support and assistance to young, unwed women through pregnancy and delivery. The joy of her life was her family: her devoted husband, her loving children, and her brothers and sisters.

Concetta is survived by two daughters, Pam Scott and husband Jack of Houston, TX and Diane Cardone, devoted caregiver, of Lake Charles; two sons, Grant Cardone and wife Elena of Los Angeles and Gary Cardone and wife Monica of Belleair, FL; four grandchildren, Allison Lineberry and husband Joe, Shelly Graves and husband Dean, all of Houston, Mia Concetta Cardone of Belleair, FL and Sabrina Cardone of Los Angeles. Also surviving Concetta is one brother, Vincent Niel and wife Mary and two sisters, Angie Mericle and Madge Cardone and husband John; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cardone was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Curtis Cardone, Sr.; her son, Curtis Cardone, Jr.; her parents, Sophie and Anthony Niel; and brothers, John and Paul Niel.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
