Memorial Gardens Funeral Home online obituary: Elzy Pryor Vance of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 23, 1928, at Sheridan, the son of the late Amos Pryor Vance and Violet Vance. He was a member and Deacon of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, was a retired heavy equipment operator having worked for International Paper for 47 years, and was on the Lost Creek Cemetery Board. Elzy loved hunting and spending time outdoors. Mr. Vance died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center at the age of 80. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Clay Tyson Vance; brothers, Dan, Benny and James Vance; half-brother, Willis Whitaker; half-sisters, Alice Roberts and Elma Croy. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Dell Bostain Vance of Sheridan; Sons, Bill Vance, Ray and wife Linda Vance, Bob and wife Tammi Vance all of Sheridan; Grandchildren; Jeffrey Daniel Vance, Crystal Rena Norwood Carter, Joseph Eric Vance, Tiffany Lynn Gertch Nichols and Zachary Webb. Great Grandson, Michael Austin Gibbs. Memorials may be made to the Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 389, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
