|This is one of two marble signs (the other one is to the right of the photo on the far side of the fence) for Forest Lawn Memorial Park at Glendale, California which is the main and original park (now with 5 additional parks). These replaced the old storybook looking metal signs that were a staple for many years. Forest Lawn is considered the pre-eminent cemetery in the United States. Rose Hills is larger in acreage in Southern California. The restored Heron Fountain can be seen just to the right of the sign. The three heron birds on the sign are replicated in bronze for the fountain. This photo was taken on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009.|
