ST CLAIR -- Earl O. Wiegand, 66, of 1022 Henry Street, a life resident of the area, died Wednesday in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness. He was born June 9, 1896, in Port Huron, to the late Albert and Tillie Wiegand. He and Alice Crockard of St. Clair township were married December 26, 1918. Mr. Wiegand was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church, Port Huron, since 1910, and a life member of Port Huron Lodge No. 58, F. & A. M. He was a chief engineer with the Great Lakes Steamship Company until his retirement because of ill health in 1949. His last ship was the Charles Hubbard. Mr. Wiegand is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Brady, Plymouth, Michi.; Mrs Mildred Lindsay, St. Clair; and Mrs. Grace Blanchard, Royal Oak; a brother, Arlington Wiegand, Pleasant Ridge, Mich., 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Remains are in Memorial Chapel Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by Rev. James Roberts a retired Methodist pastor. Members of Lodge No. 58 will serve as pallbearers and will conduct graveside services in Hillside Cemetery.
