Thomas E. Masten, 56, of Battle Creek died at home Wednesday, November 30, 2005. He was born September 22, 1949 in Battle Creek to Joseph and Mary Louise (Vaughan) Masten. He grew up in Battle Creek, he was a 1968 graduate of Galesburg - Augusta High School and has lived most of his life in Battle Creek. He was married to Teresa K. Dahn in Lacey on November 28, 1970. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, his son, Scot A. (Lisa) Masten of Battle Creek, his daughter, Amanda (Kyle) Riegle of Marshall, two grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Riegle and a brother, Russell Masten of Battle Creek. He has been involved in Boy Scouts of America for 49 years and was a Committee Chairman of Ceresco Troop #344. For ten years he and his wife were balloon crew for the Carl Laupp balloon, known as "Fire-eater". He also worked on-field security and with the car acquisition committee for the balloon festival. He enjoyed scouting and camping. At the request of the family, friends may call after 6:00 p.m. this evening at the Farley- Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005.
