Phillip L. Phillion Sr.

Died Sept. 27, 1999

Phillip L. Phillion Sr., age 65, of 2813 N. Lincoln Road, Ludington, died unexpectedly Sept. 27 in Shelby.

Phillip Leroy Phillion was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Trenary, to Lloyd B. and Esther L. (Herrala) Phillion. He grew up and attended school in Muskegon and Ludington receiving his GED from Ludington High School in 1960. He then attended West Shore Community College from which he graduated in 1977 with an associate degree in diesel and heavy equipment maintenance.

He married Patricia G. Cole in April of 1960 and she preceded him in death in 1997.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and was proud of his 21 years of service to his country. He was a loving, giving man who enjoyed his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, pool and bingo.

He was a volunteer fireman with the Custer Fire Department.

Survivors include his mother, Esther Phillion Diliert of Muskegon; three daughters, Faith M. (and Mike Figgins) Phillion of Fountain, Tamara S. Bergey of Grand Rapids, Kimberly G. Englebrecht of Fountain; three sons, Phillip L. Phillion Jr. of Fountain, Ricky B. Phillion of Custer, Randy K. (and Billie Jo) Phillion of Scottville; one brother, Lloyd Phillion Jr. of Muskegon; three sisters, Gloria (and Melvin) Howe of Baldwin, Patricia (and Norman) Peterson of Hart, Joyce (and Donald) Nordine of Ludington; five granddaughters, Ashley Figgins, Amy Renwick, Brooke Englebrecht, Jessica Phillion, Mackenzie Bergey; three aunts, Helen Metsa of Wisconsin, Mildred Wilkens of California, Bertha (and Jerry) Aho of Eben Junction; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two special friends, Mary Wright of Muskegon and Arlene Rowe of Ludington.

In addition to his father and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Phillion, and infant sisters, Phyliss Phillion and Bertha Arlene Phillion, and one stepbrother, Raymond Diliert Jr.

Services for Phillip L. Phillion were conducted at 11 this morning at the Dorrell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary Miller of the Ludington Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery
