Waterford, CT - George Paul Abbiati, age 84, died Sunday morning at his home.

He was born in Waterford on Dec. 20, 1924, the son of Antonio and Zoe Barsugli Abbiati. He married Linda Karasevicz Abbiati on May 20, 1950. He was a 1942 graduate of the former Bulkeley High School. He served in the Merchant Marines prior to working at the Electric Boat in Groton for 32 years, retiring as a Warehouse Supervisor in 1987. He also had been employed at the former A & P Grocery Store. He was a member of the Electric Boat Athletic Club and Management Clubs. He was also a past president of the Waterford Lions Club and loved camping and travelling. He was an avid New York Yankee fan.

The funeral will assemble at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling Hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
