The Battle of Stones River was one of the "Top Ten Bloodiest Battles during the United States Civil War as this Plaque Attests. This Plaque stands on a special monument near McFadden's Ford on Stones River, where on the afternoon of January 2nd, 1863, at 3:00 PM, 1,800 Confederate Soldiers were killed in less than an hour, while trying to capture the 57 Artillery Pieces protecting the Union Line.
