Daughter of Benjamin Cook and Eliza Owen, Arabella married Charles W. Recor on February 16, 1870, in Detroit, Michigan, the ceremony being performed by Rev. D. D. Buck, Methodist-Episcopal Church. They were the parents of seven children: Charles Otis, William Dunbar, Nina, Mabel, Anna Jane, Mariam also called Marion, and Lorena. By the time of the 1900 Federal Census enumeration in June, only four of the children remained living.

Arabella and Charles made their home on Recor's Point along the St. Clair River in East China Township, St. Clair County, Michigan, where Charles was a farmer; by 1894, Charles had given up farming and they relocated three miles north to the City of St. Clair, where Charles was a vessel owner and captain.

"Mrs. Arabella Recor died Tuesday evening in her home, 200 Cortland Avenue, at the age of 70 years, following an illness of 10 months. She was born in Mackinaw City and had spent the greater part of her life in Detroit. She was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Lynn Wolvin, Mrs. Raymond Gruber, and Mrs. James Malloy." (Detroit Free Press, July 16, 1924)
