William Henry Grant "Buddy" Barnes born July 5, 1869 at Campbell, Searcy County, Arkansas to James Jackson Barnes and Tennessee Elizabeth Hatchett (Begley) Barnes.

William Henry Grant "Buddy" Barnes married at Leslie, Arkansas, Dec. 18, 1890 to Nancy Florence Richardson.

The first few years of their marriage, Buddy and Florence owned a farm near Campbell (east of Leslie) in Searcy County, Arkansas.

Sometime in early 1900's they moved to Indian Territory. The parents of Florence are recorded in 1900 census of IT, Chickasaw Nation. In a letter dated July 19, 1903, Buddy writes home to his mother in Arkansas, he tells of his crops of corn and cotton growing on his farm in Indian Territory.
In 1904 the well water was bad, Florence and Buddy became ill and died from taking a chill tonic medicine. Their three young children survived.
