Cancer Claims life of Mrs. Lavelle Barnes
Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Belle Williamson Barnes Tuesday marked the end of her long and gallant fight against an incurable malignancy which was discovered with the birth of her second child three months ago. The young mother of twenty four years, passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Williamson, near Magee.
Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Coat Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with Rev. Virgil Davis officiating, assisted by Rev. Johnnie Gibson and Rev. Freddie Brister. Interment followed in the Goodwater cemetery under direction of Mims Mitchell Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Lavelle Barnes, Magee; one son, Dave Thomas Williamson; one daughter, Lisa Pearl Williamson, Magee; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Williamson; two sisters, Mrs. Jean McDaniels, Jackson; Miss Linda Williamson. Magee; one brother, Pete Williamson, of Magee.
