Chris Michael Cornell, 18, of Parsons died at noon Monday, April 20, 2009, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

He was born July 4, 1990, in Parsons to Michael L. and Belinda T. (Sullivan) Cornell. He grew up in Parsons, where he attended Washington and Guthridge elementary schools and Parsons Middle School. He was currently a senior at Parsons High School and also was attending Labette Community College. Chris had planned to attend Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Okla., in the fall with an emphasis on high voltage lineman's training.

For the past 2 1/2 years, he had worked at Olson's Ace Hardware in Parsons. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, welding, cabinet making, skateboarding and spending time with his brothers and friends.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Belinda Cornell of the home; two brothers, Eric and Justin Cornell of the home; paternal grandparents, David and Verlene Cornell of Parsons; maternal grandparents, Allen and Renee Mies of Parsons and Richard and Anne Sullivan of Lowell, Ark.; paternal great-grandfather, Donald Ginn of Parsons; aunts and uncles, Tammy and Jeff Padgett, Teresa and Greg Zabokrtsky, Dawn and Shannon James, Brad Sullivan and Shelly and Tim Heincker; cousins, Jessica, Karli and Katlyn Zabokrtsky, Samantha and Charleigh Padgett and Daniel and Natasha Heincker; a great aunt, Eileen White of Parsons; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Alpha Ginn; paternal great-grandparents, Pete and Mildred White; and maternal great-grandparents, Kenneth and Cleda Hoy and Paul and Stella Sullivan.

The service will be at 4 p.m. today at Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday at the church.
