Roy Saner, Nov. 13, 1931-March 21, 2008, Roy Lee Saner, 76, of 7701 West Camabraw Park Lane, Rock Lake (Akron), died Friday at 6:30 a.m. at the Woodlawn Hospital emergency room, Rochester. Born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Rock Lake (Akron), he was the son of Homer C. and Ferrell (Schindler) Saner. He married Marilyn A. Lockridge on June 13, 1952, in Claypool and she survives.

He owned and operated a well drilling business for 42 years. Roy was a member of West Eel River Church of the Brethren in Silver Lake. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He graduated from Akron High School in 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Saner, Akron; two daughters, Melanie and husband Ray Hollett, Warsaw, and Marilee and husband Terrence Wires, Nappanee; three sons, Jim and wife Jan Saner, Mike and wife Mary Saner, and Mark Saner, all of Akron; 13 grandchildren, Missy, Kristen, Jayme, Amy, David, Rachael, Daniel, Nathaniel, Brooke, Megan, Brandt, Marcus and Leigh; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and wife Willodene Saner, Warsaw, and Charles and wife Lily Saner, Warren; two sisters-in-law, Kay Saner, Indianapolis, and Doris Saner, Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Loyd and Bob Saner; a sister-in-law, Faye Saner; and a grandson-in-law, Nicholas Patterson.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Paul Tinkel officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and the VFW Post 1343, both of Rochester. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
