Mack E. Barnett Jr., 82, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

Mack was born Jan. 10, 1921, to the late Mack E. and Anna (Osiecki) Barnett, Sr. He married Winnifred Hoffmann on June 6, 1942, in Wausau.

Mack was a self-employed carpenter. He loved wood working, polka music, dancing and gardening, especially roses.

Survivors include his wife, Winnifred Barnett of Wausau; sons, Tomas Barnett of Marathon, and Terry (Marie) Barnett of Schofield; daughters, Carole (William) Valenta of Mosinee, and Claire (Robert) Howe of Ettrick, Wis.; a brother, William Barnett of Schofield; a sister, Ann Young of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; three brothers, Barney, Walter, and Joseph; and two sisters, Esther Dittmeyer and Helen Ambroziak.
