Maxine V. Boyd, 96, of Lockhart, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on Oct. 5, 1912 in Seawillow, Texas, to DH and Florence (Brown) Littleton.
Mrs. Boyd is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Boyd; parents DH and Florence Littleton; grandson, Kevin Boyd; son-in-law, Pete Schulze; brothers, Douglas and Loyd Littleton; and sister, Marie Nelson.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her children: Jo Nell Schulze, Nelda Fox (Harlon) and Thomas Mackey Boyd (M'Lissa); grandchildren: Terry Schulze, Ronny Schulze (Melinda), Darla Law (Daniel), Pattie Horsman (Jerry), Tina Chuter (Ernie), Britt Boyd (Sharolynn), Bobby Boyd; great-grandchildren: Michael Schulze (Christy), D'Lacy Watts (Shane), Jason Schulze, Lauren Law, Brittany Law, Justin Law, Melissa Horsman, Christopher Horsman, Danielle Horsman, Patrick Horsman (Christie), and great-great-grandchildren: Dustin Schulze, Summer Schulze and Madaline Schulze.
During Mrs. Boyd's working years, she worked for Betty Brooks Sportswear Manufacture. After retiring, she spent many years as a caregiver. She was a lifetime resident of Seawillow and a member of the Methodist Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed working in the garden and cooking for family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all she knew.
Family accepted friends beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel in Lockhart, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Burial followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were: Terry Schulze, Ronny Schulze, Michael Schulze, Jason Schulze, Britt Boyd, Bobby Boyd, Christopher Horsman and Robbie Clifton. Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Chuter, Jerry Horsman, Patrick Horsman and Daniel Law.
