Mrs Fredericka Diederich, age 51 years, wife of the Rev C W Diederich, pastor of the Lutheran church in Madison township near Hoagland died Sunday morning at 1:45 o'clock at the Lutheran hospital, where she had been a patient for less than a week during her stay at the hospital submitted to a difficult operation and death followed.
Mrs Diederich was born Jan 17, 1858 and was married to the Rev C W Diederich May 23, 1883. The couple celebrated their silver wedding anniversary last May. For a number of years they have resided at the parsonage near the church in Mad[son township and Mrs Diederich was known and loved by every member of her husband's charge and had a large circle of acquaintances outside the pastorate.
Surviving relatives are the bereaved husband, one daughter, Mrs Herman Hoffman, of 2408 Smith street and three sons, Henry, William and Paul Diederich. There were three grandchildren. Three brothers-Henry C Paul, Charles A Paul and John C Peters; and five sisters – Mrs Caroline Storm, Mrs Charlotte Kern, Miss Elizabeth Paul, Mrs Fredrick Baade and Mrs Henry Lepper, also of Fort Wayne—survive.
The remains of Mrs Diederich were removed yesterday to the home of the daughter Mrs Herman Hoffman, on Smith street and the funeral will be conducted from there Wednesday at an hour to be announced later. Interment will be at Concordia cemetery. Fort Wayne Journal Gazette - March 15, 1909
