Cause: Crew of 10MIA/KIA Shot down over Ionian Sea on return flight. The entire crew was lost at sea their bodies never recovered.

Sgt. Jackson lost his life in the Ploesti raid "Operation Tidal Wave" one of the most daring raids of WW2 August 1st 1943. Coming in at tree top level the 98th BG destroy Romanian oil refineries. Sgt. Jackson was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross for his valor and heroism.
Sgt. Jackson name appears Tablets of the Missing at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery Nettuno, Italy Find A Grave Memorial# 56310409. The Georgia memorial is a cenotaph. His body was never recovered.
