Mrs. Arthur was a daughter of the late Jim and Frances Williams Crump and was a life long resident of Franklin County. She was a member of Prospect Methodist Church. Her husband, Jim J. Arthur, died in 1930. A son, Carl Arthur, passed away several years ago in Winston-Salem, NC.
Survivors are: 2 daughters, Mrs. P. D. Henson of Gainesville, and Mrs. Marvin Crawford of Carnesville; a brother, Joe Crump of Toccoa; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at Prospect Church. Rev. Phil Barnhart, and her pastor, Rev. John Glover officiated. Burial was in the family plot in the church cemetery ------------------
After several weeks illness, Mr. J. J. Arthur, prominent citizen of Carnesville, crossed over the great divide to rest in peace until the Day of Judgement. Death came to him last Saturday, July 5th, at the age of 69 years.
Funeral services were held from the Prospect church by Rev. J. F. Goode, Rev. C. T. Burgess and Rev. Matheson, on Sunday, July 6th at 3 o'clock. Interment followed in the churchyard cemetery.
Mr. Arthur was born in White County in 1860 but moved to Franklin many years ago where he had made hundred of close friends who are grieved to learn of his death. He was devoted to his family & friends and his going will be mourned by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah E. Crump Arthur; one son, Carl Arthur of Winston-Salem, NC and two daughters, Mrs. Fannie Henson of Mize and Miss Annie Mae Arthur of Carnesville; one brother, Mr. M. C. Arthur of Jefferson and one sister, Mrs. George Kesler, of Nicholson.
