Barrans, Vesta Clark - Funeral services for Vesta C. Barrans were held Thursday, Oct. 11, 1990 at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Lenox with Rev. Carl Cummings officiating. Burial was in West Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Iowa.

Vesta C. Barrans was born October 27, 1895 at New Market, Iowa. She was one of four children born to George and Cora McAlpin Clark. The family moved to Bedford while Vesta was still an infant. She attended Bedford schools and graduated in 1913.

Vesta accepted Christ as her Saviour in her teens during a revival at the Bedford Methodist Church. She attended Sunday school, church, Junior and Epworth League regularly. She also assisted as church organist.

Vesta was employed as a cashier by the Thompson Mercantile in Bedford for many years.

Vesta was married to Fred J. Barrans on January 1, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Lenox. They enjoyed several years of marriage until Fred died January 23, 1969. She was also preceded by two sisters Stella and Pearl and a brother Glenn.

Vesta died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Edith Notz of Lenox; nephew Richard Notz and wife Linda of Lenox; great niece Annette Paxton and great nephew Jeff Notz; and cousin Viola Shaffer of New Market.
