Ellen received her bachelor's degree from Marshall University and her master's degree from the University of Cincinnati. She was a teacher for the Cabell County Board of Education, retiring after 37 years of service. Ellen was a member of the First Huntington Christian Baptist Church in Guyandotte.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and John Peterson of Huntington; two grandsons, Jared Hiple of Arlington, Texas, and Brett Hiple and his wife, Jessica of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Rylee Hiple of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Belva Sansom of Wayne, W.Va., Lena Rachel and Jimmy Drown of Manassas, Va., Vora Maynard and Dixie Morrison, both of Huntington, and Mary and Paul Krajeski of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Dennis Osburn of Huntington, and Orvil Osburn of Kentucky; a very special nephew, Walter Anglin of El Paso, Texas; a special neighbor and friend, Sue Schwartz; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary.
