Born in Lafayette on Dec. 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Franklin P. and Marietta Rose Raub. On Dec. 26, 1942, she married James W. Burwell in Lafayette, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2002.
Mrs. Burwell was proud of her 20 years as an Army wife followed by 22 years as a librarian at Purdue University.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette. She was also a member of PEO, Republican Women's Club and was a Republican Precinct Committeeman, and American Bridge Association. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed traveling and entertaining.
Surviving are two daughters, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a twin brother.
