Jackie Walter Goehmann, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 27, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Paulette Peterson was the organist.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Goehmann was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Gillespie County, the son of Walter Otto Goehmann and Rosa Bertha Hulda Oehler Goehmann. He married Julia Herbort on Feb. 23, 1963, at St, Paul Lutheran Church at Cave Creek and she survives.
A lifelong rancher, Goehmann had also been a heavy equipment operator for highway construction. He then worked for a lumber company for 18 years until his retirement.
He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
In addition to his wife, Goehmann is survived by two brothers and two sisters, including Ruben Goehmann and his wife, Margaret, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Roselee, Mrs. Chester Moore, and Dorothy, Mrs. Rubin Welch, both of Fredericksburg, and Alois Goehmann of Ingram.
Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Mrs. Clara Herbort Bell of Fredericksburg, and three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law and spouses, including Bobbie and Elsie Herbort of Mills, Wyoming, and Lila Mae and Edwin Beyer Jr., J.C. Herbort and Anthony Herbort, all of Fredericksburg.
Goehmann was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three brothers, including Wesley (Freddy) Goehmann and two who died in infancy.
Memorial may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Hill Country Community Needs Council, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Warren Klein, Larry Welch, Gary Welch, Larry Beyer, Jimmy Moore and Fred Feuge.
