Matt Lochner

Matt Lochner, 68, Buckman, died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He was born Feb. 26, 1888 in Pierz township, the son of Nick and Lucy Lochner, and had lived on the family farm until moving to Buckman village six years ago.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dora Hoheisel, whom he married at Pierz, June 13, 1916, four sons and three duaghters. They are Herman, Karlsruhe, Germany; Wilfred at home; Charles, Pierz; LeRoy, St. Paul; Mrs. Roman (Edna) Mueller and Mrs. Roman (Alvina) Brandl, Buckman and Mrs. Oliver (Donna Mae) Kelzenberg, Milwaukee, Wis. A brother, Joe lives in Alberta, Canada, and a sister, Mrs. Joe Gruber, at Pierz. There are 16 grandchildren.

Definite arrangements for funeral services are delayed, pending word from the son in Germany. Rites will be held at St. Michael's church in Buckman, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Virnig Funeral home in Pierz after 6 p.m. today.

Matt Lochner Rites Held Saturday

Funeral services were conducted at St. Michael's church, Buckman, at 10 Saturday morning for Matt Lochner, 68, who passed away at his home in Buckman, Wednesday, September 26 at 10:45 p.m.

A fatal heart attack caused death; he had suffered a previous heart attack three years earlier. Interment was in the Buckman cemetery.

Officiating at the final rites was the Rev. Paul Kunkel. Six nephews served as pallbearers, Donald Wuellner, Donald Hoheisel, Norman Wuellner, Ralph Hoheisel, Herbert Gruber, and Urban Gruber.

He was born in Pierz Township, February 26, 1888, the son of Nick and Lucy Lochner. He married Dora Hoheisel at Pierz June 13, 1916, and farmed the family place, 3 ½ miles east of Genola, until six years ago, when he retired in the village of Buckman.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters, Herman, with the US Army at Karlsruhe, Germany; Wilfred, at home; Charles, Pierz; LeRoy, St. Paul; Mrs. Roman Brandl (Alvina), Buckman; and Mrs. Oliver Kelzenberg (Donna Mae), Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Other survivors are a brother, Joe, Alberta, Canada, and a sister, Mrs. Joe Gruber, Pierz. There are 16 grandchildren.
