FLYER DEAD: Lieut. Louis B SEITZ, of Walkerton IN, missing in action since 24 May 1944, has been declared dead by the war department. A bombardier on a B-24, he was lost on a mission from Natal, Brazil, to Dakar, French West Africa. No trace of the plane has been found.
Lieut. SEITZ was inducted 08 Apr 1941, and served in the medical corps as an ambulance driver at Camp Shelby MS, until transferring to the air corps in Nov 1942. After receiving training at Maxwell Field AL, Camden SC, & Ellington Field TX, he was commissioned at Big Springs TX, 13 Nov 1943. He went overseas in May 1944.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, who lives with their son, Louis, in Chicago; his mother, Mrs. Vera B SEITZ, 201 Illinois street, Walkerton; two brothers, T/Sergt Joseph D. SEITZ, Denver CO, & Lieut J Richard SEITZ, Robins Field GA, & five sisters, Mrs Margaret COLE, Lacrosse IN; Mrs Amybelle WARDMAN, Mrs Betty CHUDANOV, Ruth & Carrol, all of Walkerton.
