Ida H. Bringewatt, 97 years of age, of Crete, NE. passed away at the Crete Manor in Crete, NE. Friday morning, May 9, 2003. She was born on December 9, 1905 near Tobias, NE. She was employed at Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, MO. during WWII. After she moved to California, she cared for several families and their children, sewed costumes for the Ice Capades, and was a seamstress in a dress design shop in Hollywood, CA. She moved to Lincoln, NE. in 1975 and then moved to Crete, NE. in 1997. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 1 sister, Leta Garner of Milford, NE.; brother Frank Bringewatt of Hastings, NE.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilhelm and Anna (Frede) Bringewatt; brothers Ben and Walter Bringewatt and 2 infant brothers; 2 sisters Minnie Schulte and Alta Wolfteich and 2 infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. with Reverend James Lindgren officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt, NE. The body will lie in state Monday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. A memorial has been established to the Activity Fund at the Crete Manor in Crete, NE. with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. in charge.
