Stella P. Brown, 104 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Beatrice, NE. Monday night, March 24, 2003. She was born on January 25, 1899 at R. Blue Springs, NE. and lived most of her life in the Blue Springs and Beatrice, NE. area. She was a 1918 graduate of Blue Springs High School, Blue Springs, NE. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice, past member of the United Methodist Women and Action Group of the Church. She was a past member of the WW 1 Barracks Auxiliary. She was presented the "Service To Mankind" award by the Beatrice Sertoma Clubs. She enjoyed gardening and delivering meals on wheels.
Survivors include 2 daughters; Norma Atherton and her husband B.B. of Wymore, NE. and Helen Barley of Denver, CO.; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Luella (Thoman) Coleman, her first husband Ray Trump and second husband Raymond Brown (1972), 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, NE. There will be no public viewing. A register book will be available for signatures Thursday and Friday from 9:00 - 5:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. A memorial has been established to the Good Samaritan Care Center in Beatrice, NE. with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. in charge.
