Mrs. Hunt died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 9, 1916, in rural Bosque County, Texas, the daughter of Oscar and Sarah Loper.
She graduated from North Texas State Teachers College.
Mrs. Hunt lived in several cities, including Albuquerque, N.M., Midwest City, Okla., the St. Louis metro area and San Antonio with her husband. She moved to Lawrence in 1992.
Mrs. Hunt enjoyed reading and was a homemaker, seamstress and a master gardener.
She married Melvin R. Hunt, a captain in the U.S. Air Force, in 1944. He died in 1982.
She was also preceded in death by son William Burr Hunt II and three brothers.
Survived include a daughter, Tizby Hunt-Ward, Lawrence; a granddaughter, Sarah Ward; two grandchildren; a sister, Frances Homerstad, Clifton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
