Mariam "Murn" was the first of eleven children born to Lee Roy Headen and Stella Louise Dove Headen.

Being the oldest child of a large family made her grow up fast. She was a mother figure to her siblings and on April 2, 1960 at the age of seventeen, she became the bride of Horace Ronell Smith and together they created two beautiful children.Happy mothers day sis.

She was a loving, passionate person. The simple things in life made her happy. She enjoyed camping out on the mountain streams with her family, caring for her dogs that she refered to as her babies, but her greatest passion was her flowers. She spent her last years researching what she didn't know about them, acquiring the ones she could and displaying them for all to enjoy, epecially the butterflies and dragonflies. She had a special place in her heart for life's little miracles.

Throughout her lifetime she confirmed her faith in life itself, that every thing would be alright. In the end of that hard lifetime, although she couldn't speak the words, as she left us, the twinkle and smile in her eyes told her story... Every thing is alright!

She is missed terribly by her family and friends. but I know she still loves us all and every tear I shed is followed by a smile in memory of all the good things about her.

I wish everyone could have known her because they surely would have loved her. I know I did and still do. She was my sister, my friend, and my inspiration.
