Annie Gay was the 7th child born to Joseph Henry and Rosa Lee Seay Smoot.

She married John Sylvester Thomas on December 15, 1909 in Washington, D C.

Born to this union: John Napoleon, (was in the US Army) when he came home from the service he was employed with RF&P Railway. John committed suicide at age 32 with a shotgun. Joseph Samuel (died of an aneurysm) and Florence Elizabeth.

The marriage ended in divorce.

Annie married a second time to Marion Cardwell Bennett on February 13, 1920 in Washington, D.C.

Born to this union: John Cardwell, Charles Herbert, and Marion Frances.

Annie took in washing and ironing up until nine months before she passed away. Annie was plain spoken and a hard worker. Annie regularly attended Park View Baptist Church. The church was later moved to Patterson Avenue and was called Patterson Avenue Baptist. Annie was my great aunt.
