MACON - Dorothy "Nana" Churchwell Collins, 77, joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 8, 2009.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday at Mikado Baptist Church with burial in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, Jones County. Pastor Rusty Smith, Pastor Ed Chambliss and the Rev. Gary Thomas will officiate. The family will meet friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Tuesday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.

Mrs. Collins, wife of the late James J. Collins, was born in Mitchell County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Bertie Wingate Churchwell.

She was a graduate of Norman Park College and had lived in Macon since 1953.

Mrs. Collins was a homemaker whose first love was taking care of her family and treasured her role as wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Mikado Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Glowing Years Program and truly loved her church family.

Mrs. Collins was the mother of the late Kenneth D. Collins and sister of the late James L. Churchwell.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Hagood of Gray; her son and daughter-in-law Mike and Dorothy Collins of Macon; six grandchildren, Michael Collins, Blake Collins and Jessica (Brockett) Ingle, all of Macon, Jody (Russell) Thompson of Gray, Kelli Collins and Corrie Collins, both of Jones County; her daughter-in-law, Elaine Ray Collins of Jones County; a number of nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Greta Churchwell of Macon.
