Mrs. Marie Barnes, age 87 of Atlanta, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Winnfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Barnes is a native of Atlanta, Louisiana and a member of the Nantachie United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Barnes is the daughter of the late Barney Ranel Brady and the late Ella Bailey Brady. She was also preceded in death by her husband D. V. Barnes, three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by a daughter: Nellie LeBaron and her husband Herman of Atlanta, La., two sons: Jim Barnes and his wife Gertrude of Jena and Terry Barners of Wheeling; three sisters: Hazel McDonald of Arkansas, Francis Brady of Nevada, and Ranell Andrews of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barnes will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Teal officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery near Atlanta. Friends may vist with the family in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Pallbearers will be: Jeff Barnes, Kenneth Barnes, Jacob Dempsey, Ricky LeBaron, Phad Dempsey, and Baxter Dempsey.
