"Abram T. Beam, of Lancaster.
Abram T. Beam, died at the Zook Hygien Home at Lancaster on Monday evening, August 24, aged 80 years, 7 months and 10 days. He was failing for some time with ailments accompany old age, and about a week ago was stricken with paralysis. Mr. Beam was born in Manor township and was a son of John and Mary Beam. He was left an orphan at a youthful age and when twelve years old he went to Lancaster to learn the tailoring trade with Samuel T. Beam. In 1852 he was married to Sarah M. Sturgis, of Lititz. Later he settled in the Lancaster and worked at his trade for Hager & Bro. In 1894 he moved to Lebanon, and in 1896 his wife died. About nine years ago Mr. Beam worked for W. H. Buch in this borough, and in 1901 he entered the home where he remained until death. For fifty years he was a member of the Moravian congregation. He was a member of Conestoga Council No. 8, O. U. A. M. also for fifty-years. One brother, Theodore, of Altoona; one son, Haydn, of Lebanon; and three grandchildren, living in Philadelphia, survive. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Moravian church at this place; interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. E. S. Hagen will officiate, assisted by Rev. F. W. Wantzel, of Lancaster."
