Mrs. Lillian E. Edwards, 78, of Springfield, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday at her residence. She was born in Livingston, Ky., on June 24, 1909, the daughter of the Rev. A.N. and Rosa Beaver Yancy. She married Abner C. Edwards in 1925, and he preceded her in death in 1973. A brother, Wade R. Yancy, died in 1978; and a sister, Crystal Squires, in 1987.
Prior to her retirement, she was a computer operator for the state Department of Public Aid. She had been a member of Jerome United Methodist Church since 1951.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Normal and Thomas of Chatham; two brothers, W.H. Yancy of Flint, Mich., and Owen Yancy of Cowden; three sisters, Hazel Parrish of Springfield, Bernice High of Tomkinsville, Ky., and Rosa Mae Barnett of Elizabethtown, Ky.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services at Jerome United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stanley Haxton officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
