obituary, The Wayland Globe, 7 June 1907:
Another Called Home

David Lyon was born in the town of Grinage (Greenwich), Huron county, Ohio March 4, 1836. He came to Michigan when quite a small boy and has been a resident of Leighton township many years. He was united in marriage to Emeline German in Leighton. To this union were born four children, two of whom survive him. In the winter of 1868 he was married to Louisa Russell, and to this union were also born four children, only one of whom is living. Dec 7, 1881 he was again married to Mary E Clark who survives him.

He also leaves three sons - Charles Lyon of Wayland, Eugene Lyon of Leighton, Edward Lyon of Kansas, and one sister, Mrs Lydia Blake of Plainwell - to mourn his loss, besides many other relatives and friends. He died May 31, 1907, trusting in Christ as his Savior.

The funeral was held from the late residence on Sunday at 11 am, conducted by Elder MB Rawson, and was largely attended. The burial was in Hooker cemetery.
