|Following is a verbatim transcript of a translation of the baptismal record taken from the register of the church in Ullerup, Denmark (formerly Ulderup, Germany).|
"Born and Baptised in the year 1872
Born Feb.25. Bapt. Mar.11. Wilhelm Frederik Nielsen, illigitimate son of a Swedish girl Karna Nielsdaughter from Røred in Malmø, Bufforkloster, and the putative father Wilhelm from Lippe Detmold serving with her in Holnis.
Witnesses: 1) Jes Jessen in Blans 2) Hans Detlefsen ibid. 3) Karna Nielsdatter.
Lippe Detmold is a duchy in Westphalia, Germany and Holnis where they served together is in Munkbraup parish close to Flensburg, Germany."
Hans Oluf Aastradsen, registrator for the STATENS ARKIVER, Landsarkivet for Sønderjylland (Southern Jutland).
Karna and her two witnesses are shown as living in Blans, which is - and was - a small town directly north of Ulderup/Ullerup. There is a chance that the elusive "Wilhelm von Detmold" was living there as well. I have been advised that, unfortunately, a census of the area was not taken during this time period. T.N.
