Marian Irene Stokley Brinkley, formerly of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, died Thursday, February 03, 2005 at her home in Simpsonville, SC. Born in Cambridge, Ohio on June 20, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John Marion Stokley and Freda Irene James Stokley and lived the majority of her life in Norfolk. A graduate of Holy Trinity High School in 1939, she worked for Seaboard National Bank for many years. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Brinkley was a faithful member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. So many people enjoyed her intellect and humor. Tough, opinionated and sometimes shocking, her intentions never failed to be the best. An avid lifelong reader, she worked crossword puzzles every day. Mrs. Brinkley was extremely grateful for all the blessings in her life, not the least of which were the fantastic neighbors of Willow Terrace, whose families were jointly raised. She cherished the twenty years spent at Sandbridge with her family and great friends.

Her devoted and loving husband, Hugh Whitmel Brinkley, predeceased her in 1994.
