The funeral for Clara Lucille Lewis, 84, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Warren Glass and Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Lewis died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Clara Lewis was a member of the Market St. Church of Christ. She was very active in the Business and Professional Women's Club, serving as Woman of the Year, president and vice president, District IX director, Young Careerist chair, scholarship chair and legislation chair. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she was very active with Girls State. She was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She owned LeMar's Dress Shop and Clara's several years ago. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lewis; brother, Gilbert Greenhaw; sister, Mary Elmore. Survivors include her son, Michael Lewis and wife Chris of Athens; brother, David Orville Greenhaw of Athens; sister, Mildred Beddingfield of Athens; granddaughter, Whitney Paige Lewis of Athens. Pallbearers will be Tommy Elmore, Roger Elmore, Russell Beddingfield, Brad Greenhaw, Greg Greenhaw and Gerry Greenhaw.
