Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Sparkman died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born June 23, 1925, in Morgan County to Fred Bryant Sparkman and Rosie May Melvin Sparkman. He was a United Methodist and a Mason. He was a printing press operator at Redstone Arsenal.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Sparkman; two sons, Freddie E. Sparkman and Loyce G. Sparkman, all of Hartselle; three daughters, Shirley B. Johnson of Hillsboro, Debbie K. Steele of Danville and June E. Cox of Hartselle; one brother, Franklin D. Sparkman of Warrior; one sister, Clara Wynn of Hartselle; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Peppers, Patrick Johnson, Andy Sparkman, Brandon Sparkman, Shane Steele and Patrick Cheatham.
