Betty Jean (Coen) Ashenfelter, 77, of Rowlesburg, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the home of her daughter, after a brief illness.

She was born April 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Ray C. and Mildred L. Coen of Fairmont.

Betty was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and also a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Education. She was a teacher in the Preston County School System until her retirement.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Ashenfelter of Thomasville, NC; a son David and wife Pam Ashenfelter of Reedsville; two daughters and spouses, Crystal and husband Joe Dean of Rowlesburg; and Robin and husband Charles Drummond of Gore, VA; two grandchildren, Hillary and Joey; two step-grandchildren, Brooks and Brandy and five great-grandchild, Vera, Aidan, Ian, Leah and Marcus and several cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John A. Ashenfelter, on March 2, 2005.
