Thelma A. Owens Brown, 89 years of age, of Brodhead, Kentucky; passed away on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Brodhead, Kentucky.
Thelma was born in Quail, Kentucky on August 13th, 1919, daughter of the late Aiden Lovell Owens and Bertha Elizabeth Scott Owens. She was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ and a member of the Quail Homemakers for 50 Years. Her hobbies and interest were country music, cross word puzzles, crocheting, walking, and the Charleston dance.
On October 30th, 1936 she was united in Holy Matrimony to E.J. Brown and from that union came two children, Norietta and James A. "Jimmy" Brown.
Those left to cherish her memory included two children, Norietta Thompson of Brodhead, Kentucky and James A. "Jimmy" Brown (Sarah) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Rick Thompson of Brodhead, Kentucky; Scott Brown (Pamela) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; Eddie Thompson (Kris) of London, Kentucky; Tina Cloyd (Bobby) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Jay Brown of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; Trisha Brown of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and Phil Thompson of Brodhead, Kentucky; twelve great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Irene Brown of Advance, Indiana; Edith Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, one sister in-law, Gerry Owens of Advance, Indiana. As well as a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Brown, one brother, Aiden Lovell Owens, Jr., and a son in-law, Donald Thompson.
Visitations were held on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals and Monday, February 9th, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Church of Christ with Bro. Curt Herrington officiating.
Thelma's Casket Bearers were: Scott, Rick, Phil, Jay, Eddie and Julian.
Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
