Maxine Virginia Arnold was born November 21, 1918, at West Plains, Missouri. She was the daughter of Floyd and Sybil (Dye) Taylor. Maxine lived in Olathe and Chanute, Kansas, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1950, where she made her home until her death Thursday, August 21, 2003, at the age of eighty-four years.

She graduated from Newton (Kansas) High School with the class of 1936.

Maxine was a lifelong homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa.

Maxine enjoyed walking, reading and crocheting. She created numerous beautiful items for her family and friends to enjoy. She loved spending time with her family and loved animals. She greatly enjoyed caring for her cats.

On October 1, 1937, Maxine was united in marriage with Ronald Wayne Arnold at Fort Worth, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1999.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jeanette; and grandson, Patrick Arnold.

Mrs. Arnold is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Arnold of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Larry Arnold and his wife, Pat, of Lebanon, Missouri; sister, Marjorie Hildebrandt and her husband, John, of Junction City, Oregon; and grandson, Mike Arnold of Hindsville, Arkansas.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2003.

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Harriett Bechtle.

IN STATE: Mrs. Arnold will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour.

CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.

MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church or B. Martin Peck Animal Shelter, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
