Jesse Emry
Jesse Mahlon Emry was born near Allen in Dixon County, Nebr. on Mar. 30, 1882 to John Quincy and Eleanor (Ellis) Emry. His mother died in May 1892.
He came with his father and step-mother, Jane (Cannady) Emry and family to Keya Paha County in 1901, settling near Norden.
He was united in marriage to Florence Evans Feb. 9, 1910, at Norden, Nebra. To this union was born five children, Freda Doris, Kenneth Earl, Robert Russell, Phyllis Irene, and a son who died in infancy.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda, (Mrs. Jesse Hood).
Surviving are his wife, Florence, Ainsworth; two sons; Kenneth, Ainsworth, and Russell, Talent, Ore., one daughter, Phyllis Campbell, Ainsworth; two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Rundall Chapman, Ovid, Colo., and Ethel (Whetstone), Gallarda, Oakland, Calif., one half-brother, Phillip Emry of Concordia, Calif.; also 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
His father was a Friends of Quaker minister and he abided by that faith and with deep respect to all others.
He died March 22 at the Ainsworth Hospital, just one week before his 83rd birthday. He and his wife have resided the past several months at Bethel Nursing Home.
Funeral services were conducted March 26, at the Congregational Church with REV. Gordon Jensen officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Dale East Cemetery, Norden. Wisda Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Robert and Raliegh Emry, Donald and Hubert Hood, Melvin Campbell and a grandson-in-law, Richard Adcock.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were Hubert Hood, Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Mrs. and Mrs. Richard Adcock and family, Rockford, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jacob, Norfolk, Nebr., Robert and Raleigh Emry, Fort Collins, Colo., Mrs. Guy (Mary) Chapman, Ovid, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stohler, Grant, Nebr.
