MRS. JULIA CHANEY
Beulah Baptist Church in Newton County was the place for the funeral of Mrs. Julia Catherine Chaney, 89, of Route 2, Decatur. Services were held Thursday, September 3, at 10 a. m., with the Revs. O. V. Swearingen, Stanley Wade, and Sam Foy as the officiants. Burial was made in the Beulah Cemetery, Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian directing.
Mrs. Chaney's death came at 4:30 p. m. Tuesday. September 1, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. A. Crawford, in the Oakland Community. She was a lifelong resident of that community, and was respected and loved by a wide circle of friends.
She leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Lavada McCarty of Laurel and Mrs. Howard Palmer of Meridian; four sons, Lawrence of Decatur, G. B. of Hickory, J. E. of Artesia, N. M., and S. V. Chaney of Chunky; 29 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Grandsons served as active pall bearers.
