FATALLY BURNED

Mrs. E. A. Shinn Dies From Burns Received Monday

Mrs. E. A. Shinn was fatally burned at her home a short distance west of DuBois Monday morning of this week and died Tuesday night about ten o'clock. Mrs. Shinn was starting the gasoline engine preparatory to doing the family washing and, it is supposed that in filling the tank with gasoline some of the liquid spilled on her clothes and the fire from the exhaust pipe ignited it. She and her young daughter Adella were at home alone at the time of the accident and although the little girl did all with in her power to help her mother extinguish the flames, it was not until Mrs. Shinn's brother, Frank Dvorak, who happened to be passing at the time and hearing screams, ran to investigate, that the fire was put out. Dr. Anderson of Pawnee was immediately called and, although he did everything possible to alleviate the suffering of the unfortunate woman, held out no hopes for her recovery. This is one of the saddest deaths that has ever occurred in this community and the grief stricken husband and children; also the brother and sisters and the aged father have the sympathy of all in their great sorrow.

Anna Dvorak, daughter of Frank and Francis Dvorak, ws born November 2, 1881, on the farm southeaast of Pawnee City, Neb., where her father still resides. On March 7, 1905, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Shinn. To this union two children were born- Emil and Adella. On August 4, 1925, she departed this life, leaving to mourn their great loss a husband, two children, and aged father, six sisters: Francis Daniel of Pawnee, Neb., Mollie Dvorak of Pawnee, Rosa Bohner and Mary Martinek of Silver Lake, Kan., Lottie Vetrous of Virginia, Neb., and Maggie Kalina of DuBois and one brother, Frank Dvorak,Jr., of Pawnee. Short funeral services will be held at the home this )Thursday_ afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by F. G. Dobrovolny and Miss Mamie Young, and at the United Brethren church in DuBois, the service being in charge of the pastor.
