Mr. Jewel Leonard Hubbard, 81 of 555 Mary McCall Road, died on Monday, November 7, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Randal Strickland and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Stedman.
Mr. Hubbard was born on March 23, 1930 in Cumberland County and was the son of the late Mitchell and Nancy Averitt Hubbard. He is preceded in death by his wife, Berline Autry Hubbard; his sister, Louise Honeycutt McPhail; and four brothers, Marcus, Earl, Bonner and Bill Hubbard.
Leonard, during his lifetime worked for 17 years with Burlington Industries in Fayetteville and retired after 35 years as a buyer with Lundy Packing Company in Clinton. He always cherished his annual reunion with co-workers from both places. He was an honest and respected man by his many friends and all who knew him. He enjoyed gospel and blue grass music and always joined in singing along with his tenor voice. He was most proud of his grandson, Jason.
He is survived by: one son, Ray Hubbard and wife, Brenda; his beloved grandson, Jason Hubbard(1988-2017); two sisters, Joyce Bridges and Sudie Blanton and husband, Charles; three brothers, Charles Hubbard, Doug Hubbard and Johnny Hubbard; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman, and other times at the home of his son, 7340 Stoney Branch Road, Stedman.
