"And her children will rise up and call her Blessed." Hazel Inez Womack Achord "Aunt Nez," 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at her residence in Zachary surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then on Friday, Jan. 30, from noon until service at 2 p.m., conducted by Brother Jimmy Parker. Burial will be in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Vergie A. Booty and her husband, Harold, of Zachary; two sons, Walter H. Achord Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Zachary, and Cecil Lane Achord and his wife, Joan, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Libbie Trealor and her husband, Joe, of Zachary; three sisters-in-law, Teeter Womack, of Zachary, and Bertha Achord and Edna Achord, both of Baton Rouge; and brother, Sam Womack and his wife, Tops, of Zachary. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 53 years, Walter H. Achord Sr.; parents, Virgil and Lottie Womack; and two brothers, Virgil Womack and Louis Womack. Pallbearers will be Warren Cavalier, Jeff Holcombe, Mark Achord, Michael Achord, Cecil Courtney Achord and Timmy Lane Achord. She was a faithful member of the Deerford Methodist Church.
