Farrar Brooks Witten, Jr, 76, of Maypearl passed away Thursday, Nov 28, 2002, in Dallas, from a chronic heart condition.
He was born Jan 24, 1926, in Waxahachie to Farrar Brooks and Alice Howorth Witten.
Farrar met his childhood sweetheart Teddy Jean Spain before the first grade. They were married on Aug 28, 1949, in Maypearl.
He attended Texas A&M College and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard the USS Brevard in Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Shanghai, China.
He retired from IBM after 38 years of service.
Farrar was very active in the various bodies of the Masonic Fraternity including membership in Waxahachie Lodge No. 90 AF&AM, Midlothian Chapter and Council, Tancred Commandery No. 82, Scottish Rite Valley of Dallas and Hella Shrine.
He is survived by one daughter, Lynne Alisse Witten, of Dallas, two sons, F. Brooks Witten III and his wife Diane, of Plano, and Will Witten Sr and his wife Sue Wilson, of Trophy Club; one sister Linda Ann Wilson, of El Sobrante, Calif.; two grandchildren, Ami Witten of Plano and Will Witten II of Trophy Club, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Teddy Jean Spain Witten, and one brother Wendell Witten.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Monday, Dec 2, 2002, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibben Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Rucker officiating. Internment will follow in the Maypearl Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibben Funeral Home, (972) 937-2211
