United States Army Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Barron, 61st Fighter Squadron, was killed when his Air Force bomber, providing escort for Eighth Air Force Bombers returning from a mission against Villacoublay airfield near Paris, was hit by German bombers over France.

Louis attended Panhandle Agricultural and Mechanical College, Goodwell, Oklahoma for three semesters. He then attended Northwestern State College, Alva, Oklaloma in 1940. Louis enlisted as a Private in the Air Corps Sept. 17, 1940, and trained at Brooks Field, and at Chanute Field, graduating July 4, 1941. He re-enlisted as an Air Cadet, and trained at Ellington, Hicks, Randolph, and Kelly Fields, graduating from Kelly Field as Second Lieutenant July 4, 1942. From July to December, 1942, he trained as a fighter pilot on the "Thunderbolt" at Bridgeport, Conn. He transferred to England in January, 1943. Louis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Barron; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Barron; and one brother, James V. Barron.

Lieutenant Barron's remains were reinterred on April 26, 1949.
