Joseph Rhett Ansley, 48, passed away on Jan. 14, 2009, in Arkansas. He was born Jan. 23, 1960, in Gallup.
Ansley grew up in Ramah, where he developed a love of horses and rodeo. He loved dancing, nature and life. He is remembered by family and countless friends for his charm and optimism and ability to find fun and adventure in every situation.

Pole Falls On Worker - Joseph Ansley, age 48, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was killed in an accident on January 14th west of Havana when one of these heavy utility poles (one on ground on opposite side of truck) struck him while the structures were being unloaded. The death was ruled accidental. A utility pole weighing over a ton fell on a Sun Electric Company worker who was crushed as fellow workers were unloading four of the poles from a trailer west of Havana.
Joseph Ansley, 48, of Albuquerque, New Mexico was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Lee Coffman. Yell County Sheriff CID Officer John Foster investigated the incident and stated that apparently Ansley was undoing some straps that held the load of four heavy utility poles when one of poles fell off the truck unexpectedly and crushed Ansley.
The body was sent to the State Medical Examiners office and Deputy Coroner Kathy Gillespie said the cause of death was crushing head, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvic injuries. She stated that Ansley would have been killed almost instantly due to the severity of the injuries. Foster said the incident was ruled an accidental death.
Ansley is married and has two sons. His body was sent back to New Mexico according to Gillespie. He was an employee of Sun Electric of Odessa, TX, which was installing the large steel structures for utility purposes. Each of the structures can weigh between 2,800 and 6,800 pounds depending on the length and width of the structures.
