Juanita M. Cline, 85

Chester - Juanita M. Cline, 85, of California Avenue, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at the St. Mary's Alzheimer Center in Columbiana, Ohio, following a brief illness. Born Nov. 5, 1923, a daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Margaret Anna Goppert Cline, she spent her lifetime in Chester. A retired office manager for the former TS&T Pottery in Chester, she later filled the same position at Anchor Hocking, retiring in 1982 after more than 40 years. A member of the First Christian Church in Chester, for many years she was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a former officer who chaired the Girls State program, she also served as its treasurer. A graduate of the Chester High School Class of 1941, she ranked in the top 10 of her class. She then received a degree from the East Liverpool Business College in 1943 and later attended the Kent State University. Survivors include three sisters, Rosemary Ibbs and her husband, Kenneth, of East Liverpool; Esther Smallwood and her husband, Harold, of Romney, W.Va.; and Margaret Comm and her husband, Clifford, of Chester. Also surviving are two brothers, Lewis W. Cline of Cleveland, Ohio, and John H. Cline of Beaumont, Texas. "Aunt Nean" was like a second mother to many of her loving 20 nieces and nephews and many, many great- nieces and great-nephews who survive. She was a tremendous influence for the good to all those people whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence F. Cline. Pastor Timothy W. Martin is to conduct services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the service.
